Night photography

During my first year at Buitenkunst Jaap Bijsterbosch - our teacher - showed us how to make photographs at night. I’ve loved using these techniques ever since!

One thing which is really fascinating is the color of white light. Our minds adjust these colors so we have a built-in white-balance system, that makes sure white objects are perceived as white objects. Most cameras are have adjustable white balance settings, but when you leave this off, you can capture the ‘real’ color of artificial light.

Light can be orange, yellow, blue, green or really white. In the last of the pictures you see this spooky green environment - the real color of the light!
